Ashlee Rowe, PhD
Dr. Rowe is an Assistant Professor in the Neuroscience Program and Zoology Department. Her recent research on scorpion venom acting as an analgesic in the grasshopper mouse in being published in Science. Dr. Rowe found that an amino acid substitution in a sodium channel in pain neurons can alter the toxin's behavior. Studies such as this could someday help researchers target these sodium channels for the development of analgesic medications for humans.
